While we were yet in our sins, He died for us

Psalm 65
v1
For the Chief Musician. A Psalm. A song of David.
Praise waiteth for thee, O God, in Zion;
And unto thee shall the vow be performed.
v2
O thou that hearest prayer, Unto thee shall all flesh come.
v3
Iniquities prevail against me: As for our transgressions, thou wilt forgive them.
v4
Blessed is the man whom thou choosest, and causest to approach [unto thee],
That he may dwell in thy courts:
We shall be satisfied with the goodness of thy house,
Thy holy temple.
v5
By terrible things thou wilt answer us in righteousness,
Oh God of our salvation,
Thou that art the confidence of all the ends of the earth,
And of them that are afar off upon the sea:
v6
Who by his strength setteth fast the mountains,
Being girded about with might;
v7
Who stilleth the roaring of the seas,
The roaring of their waves,
And the tumult of the peoples.
v8
They also that dwell in the uttermost parts are afraid at thy tokens:
Thou makest the outgoings of the morning and evening to rejoice.
v9
Thou visitest the earth, and waterest it,
Thou greatly enrichest it;
The river of God is full of water:
Thou providest them grain,
when thou hast so prepared the earth.
v10
Thou waterest its furrows abundantly;
Thou settlest the ridges thereof:
Thou makest it soft with showers;
Thou blessest the springing thereof.
v11
Thou crownest the year with thy goodness;
And thy paths drop fatness.
v12
They drop upon the pastures of the wilderness;
And the hills are girded with joy.
v13
The pastures are clothed with flocks;
The valleys also are covered over with grain;
They shout for joy, they also sing.

God never forgets

Psalm 137
v1
By the rivers of Babylon, There we sat down, yea, we wept, When we remembered Zion.
v2
Upon the willows in the midst thereof We hanged up our harps.
v3
For there they that led us captive required of us songs, And they that wasted us [required of us] mirth, [saying], Sing us one of the songs of Zion.
v4
How shall we sing Jehovah's song In a foreign land?
v5
If I forget thee, O Jerusalem, Let my right hand forget [her skill].
v6
Let my tongue cleave to the roof of my mouth, If I remember thee not; If I prefer not Jerusalem Above my chief joy.
v7
Remember, O Jehovah, against the children of Edom The day of Jerusalem; Who said, Rase it, rase it, Even to the foundation thereof.
v8
O daughter of Babylon, that art to be destroyed, Happy shall he be, that rewardeth thee As thou hast served us.
v9
Happy shall he be, that taketh and dasheth thy little ones Against the rock.

Three Worldly Powers

"For all that is in the world,
the lust of the flesh,
the lust of the eyes,
and the pride of life, is not of the Father,
but is of the world."

[1 John 2:16]

So Great Salvation!

The theme of salvation is "so great" (Hebrews 2:3), it embraces many major doctrines of Scripture. As a very sketchy summary, one may note that it includes
the doctrine of atonement (Leviticus 17:11);
the doctrine of substitution (Isaiah 53:5);
the doctrine of imputation (Romans 4:6-8);
the doctrine of propitiation (1 John 2:2);
the doctrine of redemption (1 Peter 1:18);
the doctrine of remission (Acts 10:43);
the doctrine of justification (Romans 3:28);
the doctrine of adoption (Ephesians 1:5);
the doctrine of reconciliation (Romans 5:10, 11);
the doctrine of regeneration (Titus 3:5);
the doctrine of sanctification (Hebrews 10:9-10); &
the doctrine of glorification (Romans 8:30).
When a person is saved, the blessings implied in every one of these great doctrines of salvation become his, whether Jew or Gentile, whether found in Old Testament prophecy or New Testament fulfillment.
No wonder Paul was not ashamed of this great gospel of salvation through Jesus Christ,
and neither should we be!

In Christ's Image

1 Corinthians 15:45-49 ASV

[ 45 ] So also it is written, The first man Adam became a living soul. The last Adam became a life-giving spirit.
[ 46 ] Howbeit that is not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; then that which is spiritual.
[ 47 ] The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is of heaven.
[ 48 ] As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly.
[ 49 ] And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.

man and the God-man

1 Corinthians 15:20-21 ASV

[ 20 ] But now hath Christ been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of them that are asleep.
[ 21 ] For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead.

New Testament quotation on Original Sin

Romans 5:12-21 ASV

[ 12 ] Therefore, as through one man sin entered into the world, and death through sin; and so death passed unto all men, for that all sinned: -
[ 13 ] for until the law sin was in the world; but sin is not imputed when there is no law.
[ 14 ] Nevertheless death reigned from Adam until Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the likeness of Adam's transgression, who is a figure of him that was to come.
[ 15 ] But not as the trespass, so also is the free gift. For if by the trespass of the one the many died, much more did the grace of God, and the gift by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, abound unto the many.
[ 16 ] And not as through one that sinned, so is the gift: for the judgment came of one unto condemnation, but the free gift came of many trespasses unto justification.
[ 17 ] For if, by the trespass of the one, death reigned through the one; much more shall they that receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one, even Jesus Christ.
[ 18 ] So then as through one trespass the judgment came unto all men to condemnation; even so through one act of righteousness the free gift came unto all men to justification of life.
[ 19 ] For as through the one man's disobedience the many were made sinners, even so through the obedience of the one shall the many be made righteous.
[ 20 ] And the law came in besides, that the trespass might abound; but where sin abounded, grace did abound more exceedingly:
[ 21 ] that, as sin reigned in death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

A great resource of Biblical Studies from a Jewish perspective

First post

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
[Jam 1:17 KJV]
This is my third time trying a venue for blogging.
The first was a bit hard to put together and very 'buggy',
the second was plagued with ads and very intrusive: too much like a fish bowl.
So far, on Blogger, it has been a smooth start and I hope to be blogging here from now on.
The content of this blogg is solely and exclusively on the Christian Faith and I would like it to be a place where I can invite others to check out the articles and make their own minds about the Truth that is Scripture! So needless to say, you will not find any of my poetry or cunningly devised and fictional prose to try impress you. The only impression that you will find here is that of Scripture, of God's Word.
No points of view here.
God is unchangeable, He does NOT change His mind, He does NOT break His promises, He is a Jealous God, and "God loved the world so much that He gave His only begotten Son that WHOSOVER believeth in Him should NOT perish, but have everlasting life. " John 3 v 16
My hope is that this blogg is to the Glory of God and that others will be challenged to change their minds and turn to the Saviour, to the Only God, Jesus Christ.
